Discover the many uses of our White Vinegar!
Don't let the name fool you, White Vinegar can be used for so many things! Here are some of our favourite ways to use it...
Baking 🍰 - White Vinegar is a surprisingly common ingredient in baked goods. It is often included in cake and cookie batters to react with Baking Soda and start the chemical reaction needed to produce Carbon Dioxide, and give those batters a lift as they bake. It helps maintain structure of many baked goods. For example White Vinegar is unquestionably one of the sole contributors to baking the perfect meringue. A small amount of Vinegar is enough to slow down the formation of sulphur bonds in egg whites, which results in them becoming almost silky in appearance, and ultimately results in a higher and more even rise.
Surprisingly, White Vinegar can also be used as an egg substitute. This discovery supposedly came from World War II, when egg rationing was introduced. Adding vinegar to the cake batter increases the batter’s acidity, which results in the proteins found in flour to set while the cake is baking. Your cake will come out both fluffy and moist!
Cleaning 🧼✨ - There are dozens of ways to clean with White Vinegar. This natural cleaner easily cuts through mildew, bacteria, and grime and can be used on various household surfaces. Vinegar is a great multi-purpose cleaner and is perfect for brightening up the kitchen sink and draining board, where limescale deposits from evaporated water can dull the surface. White Vinegar is an essential part of your cleaning kit!
Pickling 🥒 - Pickling with vinegar is a really simple and quick way to preserve foods. It has been used as a preservative for centuries and it is highly effective. The reason that it is highly effective as a preservative is because of the pH. The acid in Vinegar is Acetic Acid created by acetobacter, a type of acid producing bacteria.
Aftercare for flowers 💐 - Enjoy fresh flowers for as long as possible by adding equal parts of White Vinegar and sugar to water. Two tablespoons is good to start with for an average-sized vase. The vinegar lowers the pH levels of the water and prevents bacteria, and the sugar feeds the flowers.
All in all, White Vinegar is among the best products to have around at home. The uses are endless! If you'd like to purchase our Hexeal White Vinegar click here and let us know what you think!
